CON*tourage UNBIRTHDAY PARTY set for PlayOn Con on July 28th, 2012!

Since we were little tots we are taught to believe that we should only celebrate our Birthday ONE DAY a year. Well, screw that. At PlayOn Con (to be hosted at the the Hilton in Birmingham, Alabama, July 26th-29th) CON*tourage is inversing that, making every day of the year everyone’s Birthday — or shall we say UNbirthday.

An UNbirthday you may ask? According to wikipedia, “an unbirthday (originally written un-birthday) is an event that can be celebrated on any day that is NOT the person’s birthday.” So, with that being explained….what better reason to celebrate on July 28th with CON*tourage…after all, it’ll be YOUR Happy UnBirthday!

CON*tourage will be pulling out all stops for this party, serving up ice cream & booze (while it lasts), and dance music by DJ Lawless (based out of Atlanta)….so wear your most comfortable dance shoes and Unbirthday Party attire!

Also during the evening we’ll be giving away prizes for the Best Unbirthday Suits and Unbirthday Spankings by CON*tourage’s own Leah. For those who’ll be in the mood of receiving gifts, bring a wrapped gift of your own (valued at approx. $5) and you’ll swap at 1:00 a.m. (anything goes…as far as what the gift is. Be creative!)

For those of you who haven’t attended PlayOn Con yet or don’t know much about it…each night they has an array of Con-sanctioned room parties. So that means that you can party at MANY parties each night, just not ours. Each party is located on the same hotel floor, side-by-side so all parties (with various themes) are easy to locate. NOTE: All parties are 21+ so bring your I.D.

• Earlybird Kickoff (Wednesday Night) - If you’re there early like a lot of the staff, you can come join us as we issue a farewell toast to sleep and begin inoculating ourselves for the nonstop weekend!

• Total Sausagefest III (Thursday Afternoon) - Awww yeah!

• Jonestown After Dark (Thursday Night) - The Reverend has a very important message for all you POC 5 kids out there: JUST SAY NO!

• Frolicon (Friday evening) - The Frolicon girls are throwing a black and white party! Cocktail attire encouraged!

• El Presidente (Friday evening) - You must obey the dance commander givin’ out the order for fun. You must obey the dance commander. You know that he’s the only one who gives the orders here.

• BSG (Friday evening) - Remember when they turned that viper into a decoration for Joe’s Bar? Dress up as your favorite character from the show BATTLESTAR GALLACTICA and meet us there! Keep an eye out for for frakkin’ toasters, though. They could be anywhere!

• aPOCalypse (Friday evening) - The Mayans warned us, so we decided to stock up on snacks and watch the world die in style.

• Pancake Chowdown (Saturday late-morning) - Bring your appetite and $3 donation for all-you-can-eat pancakes, hosted by CON*tourage.

• CON*tourage Unbirthday Party (Saturday night) - It’s everyone’s (un)birthday party this night! Wear your best (un)birthday suit, bring your appetite for cake, booze and free (un)birthday spankings by Leah. Music provided by DJ Lawless, out of Atlanta. $5 gift exchange at 1 a.m.

• Iron Bartender (Saturday night) - Superior Mixmasters battle neophyte challengers in number one challenge to the death! Judges demand drinks with secret ingredient, and bartenders do as told. Watch as Cocktail Stadium becomes mighty arena of conflict!

• Boozepack (Saturday night) - This year’s theme is….Oh, who’re we kidding? BITE AND SUCK!

• Karaoke (Friday & Saturday night) - Xavier’s bringing the mic to the party floor. You bring the talent and/or chutzpah!

• Dead Dog Party (Sunday night) - For those left standing, our party hosts from the weekend will be doing their best to avoid taking home so many bottles. And you can help!

• 24 Hour Pool (Friday and Saturday night) - Noodle battles at 3 a.m., anyone?

• 6 Feet Under (Friday and Saturday night) - Something for the younger crowd! Look for this goth-themed soiree on a separate floor from the others. Must be 20 or younger to attend.

Party group CONtourage releases complete details for DragonCon 2012

CON*tourage was founded in 2008 at Dragon*Con by a handful of like-minded, creative party geeks. Since then, our CON*tourage Army has grown in numbers and we’ve traveled to many Sci-Fi Cons in the SouthEast, hosting numerous themed parties and events along the way, with the help of our awesome and hardworking CON CRUE. With that being said, we are wickedly excited to be returning to Dragon*Con 2012…where it all began. Last year we couldn’t have asked for a better response to our parties/events. We ended up actually “selling out” all of our VIP and Regular Party Passes nearly 1 month before Dragon*Con 2011 so we are expecting that might happen again this year. So….don’t say we didn’t warn ya. If you want to reserve a pass and make sure you have access to our events, especially our two late-night parties, please don’t delay. Plus we have a KILLER t-shirt designed by Billy Tackett that we’ll only be taking orders for until the last part of July 2012 that will commemorate our return to Dragon*Con 2012 (explained below).

Planned during Dragon*Con 2012….FIVE CON*tourage events that will take place throughout the Labor Day weekend. Keep reading to find out all you need to know…where they’ll be located, what you need to do to get access to those events and lots of other useful info.:

1.) Annual CON*tourage MEET & GREET
(Thursday, August 30th, 9 – 11 p.m., CON*tourage Hyatt Suite)
Come see old friends and make new ones during the CON*tourage Annual “Meet & Greet” In addition to this being a perfect time to mingle, it’ll be a great time to show off your new 2012 CON*tourage Commemorative T-Shirt (illustrated by Billy Tackett) and also pick up your reserved VIP or Regular Party Pass(es). You’ll need to have either a reserved 2012 Regular or VIP CON*tourage Party Pass in order to get access to this year’s “Meet & Greet”. We are making this year’s “MEET & GREET” an exclusive event for those of you donated to make these parties and events possible. If you have, for example, 3 party passes reserved that’ll get 3 people into the “MEET & GREET”. Party Passes (both VIP and Regular) are REQUIRED for entrance to our two late-night parties mentioned below (21+ only). Be sure to being a photo I.D. to pick up your badge(s) AND to the actual parties. NOTE: The “Meet & Greet” is a BOYB event. 2.) Annual CON*tourage ROCK STAR PHOTO SHOOT
(Friday, Sept. 1st, 8 – 8:30 p.m., Marriott Pulse Bar)
This annual GROUP PHOTO gathering is a great time for rockers and musicians of ALL generations to come together for one big ROCK STAR PHOTO SHOOT! We’ve seen you walkin’ around D*Con….Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, Michael Jackson, DEVO, Elvis, Rick James, Ozzy, Janis Joplin, Lady Gaga, David Bowie, Prince, Freddie Mercury, Angus, Motley Crue, Madonna, GEM, Cindi Lauper, Wayne & Garth, Dethklok, Adam Ant….it doesn’t matter….ALL Rock Stars and musicians are invited to come partake in this rockin’ shoot! It’s an open event so bring your camera and friends AND your inner rocker! 3.) Annual CON*tourage ‘HEAVY METAL PARTY’
(Friday, August 31st, Midnight until 3 a.m., CON*tourage Hyatt Suite – location TBA. VIPs enter 11 p.m., Regular Pass holders enter at Midnight):

Time to break out the Metal t-shirts, leather, big hair, studded belts and bracelets — and come release your inner rocker as CON*tourage hosts it’s Annual HEAVY METAL PARTY on Friday Night during Dragon*Con 2012. This unique party theme, along with CON*tourage decked out in their kick-ass rocker costumes, has been such a success that we’ve now made it our staple party; so much so…the name ‘heavy metal’ at Dragon*Con is now synonymous with CON*tourage it seems.

The infamous DJ Nemesis

The infamous DJ Nemesis, who will also be spinning the late-night Saturday DRAGON DANCE at Dragon*Con 2012, will be returning for a 4th year as our Friday night DJ (i.e. there’s a reason we’ve asked him back for 4 years!). DJ Nemesis will be pumping out well-known metal anthems from the likes of AC/DC, Ozzy, Motley Crue, Judas Priest, Twisted Sister, Van Halen and TONS more for party-goers fist-pumping fury and sing-alongs (or in many of our cases…shout-alongs). Prizes for best rocker-inspired outfits and groupies. CON*tourage will also be serving up some wicked tasty DEVIL HORNS PUNCH, along with liquid bread (a.k.a. beer). We’ll be admitting VIP passholders at 11 p.m. Friday night (1 hour earlier), and everyone else with REGULAR passes at Midnight. The party will keep kicking ass until 3 a.m. ….or until your party hosts get hauled away by the police. Even though we’ll have libations for all (while they last) we also encourage people to BYOB. We’ll also have CON*tourage COLLECTIBLE 2012 Dragon*Con PARTY CUPS available for people to purchase if they want one (but VIP Party Pass holders will get one automatically – just another perk of being a VIP!) 4.) CON*tourage ‘UNDEAD 80s DANCE PARTY’
(Saturday, Sept. 1st, 11 p.m. until 2 a.m., CON*tourage Hyatt Suite – location TBA. VIPs enter at 10 p.m., Regular Pass holders enter at 11 p.m.)
Jump in your neighbor’s DeLorean or crowd into a phone booth as we prepare to go back in time to one of the most kick-ass and colorful decades ever…the ’80s! But be prepared…in an alternative reality the UNDEAD have taken over that beloved decade and you might just end up becoming one yourself! Break out a favorite ’80s costume for this party or unleash your inner zombie…just make sure you wear comfortable shoes as we’ll be dancing and sweating all night long! It IS Dragon*Con after all so we expect to see some…like totally…awesome costumes and some…like…totally gnarly zombies crashing the party. We’ll be giving out some most excellent prizes for the best costumes during the evening.Pac-Man, Atari, big hair, rubix cubes, Saturday morning cartoons, Garbage Pail Kids, Rainbow Brite, Magnum P.I., Prince, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Reagan, the Smurfs, Back To The Future, Star Wars, Indiana Jones…so many great memories and music came out from that decade. True…that might of ended many years ago but we can act like it’s still the coolest decade now, while throwing down with the UNDEAD!

DJ Ghost & VJ Anthony

…and what would the ’80s be without great music? Because of that, CON*tourage will be bringing in two of Atlanta’s premiere DJs for this most excellent party. A 20 year veteran of moving bodies (both alive and undead) VJ Anthony will add a video element to our UNDEAD ’80s DANCE PARTY ~ mixing and beat matching the actual music videos via projectors. VJ Anthony has established himself as one of Atlanta’s only video DJs and has been relentlessly collecting music videos since the dawn of MTV. DJ Ghost, with over 11 years under his mixing belt, will round out the night’s entertainment. Planning to sweat your a$$ off to the killer beats? We’ll be serving up SMURF PISS (while it lasts), along with beer. NOTE: Even though we’ll have libations for all (while they last) we also encourage people to BYOB and bring a cup with a lid. 5.) PANCAKE CHOWDOWN (Sunday, Sept. 2nd, 10 a.m.until Noon, CON*tourage Hyatt Suite – location TBA. No donation asked of VIP Party Pass holders or Sponsors) ALL are invited to this tasty late-morning shindig! Gotta make sure you eat while at Dragon*Con and sugary carbs are a great way to kick start the half-way point through Dragon*Con. This will be the 7th time CON*tourage has hosted their PANCAKE CHOWDOWN so we have all of the kinks worked out and be ready for a great turnout. We’ll have two types of pancakes available: PLAIN and CHOCOLATE CHIP….ALL YOU CAN EAT, but you must clean one plate before going back for more! This will allow us to feed the maximum number of people possible, with minimum waste. Also, if there are others who haven’t eatten yet, please give them priority when coming back for more pancakes. In addition to being a great time to fill your bellys you’ll be able to mingle with your fellow Dragon*Con attendees and swap war stories. Our 2012 Commemorative T-shirts were designed by zombie illustrator Billy Tackett. His numerous works include fine art paintings, portraits, and various other commercial illustrations.

JUNE 27th – CONtourage plans for DragonCon 2012 to be announced!

Here we are people….just a little over 2 months away from the most kick-a$$ extra long weekend of the year…DRAGON*CON! CON*tourage has been busy finishing up our plans for our most excellent return to Dragon*Con, where we hosted our first party and were founded back in 2008. Come June 27th we’ll be releasing FULL details on all of the events we have planned for Labor Day weekend this year, including party themes, times, details and entertainment…as well as how to reserve a VIP or Regular Party Pass (required for entrance, 21+). We’ll also be unveiling our 2012 Commemorative Party Shirt designed by illustrator Billy Tackett.

June 27th…mark the date in blood on your calendar and be sure and check back to see what fun events we have planned for Dragon*Con 2012. CANDID CRUE: A look behind CON*tourage’s Metal Curtain at some who make the magic happen

For many people who attend CON*tourage events, probably not much thought goes into how it all came together or who made it all happen. Since CON*tourage founded in 2008 our group has grown in numbers and friendships have blossomed due to the time we’ve spent together. Lots of time goes into planning and implementing our events and if we all didn’t get along…let’s just say it’d not be near as fun.

Most of the time CON*tourage events, once they are opened to our fans, move forward like a well-built Pirate ship with a strong sail…but what many don’t see are the kick-ass people behind the scenes who are there to make sure the ship stays on course and doesn’t sink before getting to it’s destination (and also make sure all the rum, grub and entertainment don’t end too soon either).

Recently many of CON*tourage’s CRUE got together for a fun weekend in a secret location, without all of the hassle of party decorating, organizing, set-up or tear-down. They engaged in many thing geek related, but most of all they spent time with one another, just catching up and even planning for future CON*tourage CON*quests. And yes…there was even a CON*tourage Pancake Chowdown.

Here’s a glimpse at some of those people who help make CON*tourage what it is. (NOTE: Check out more of the CRUE by clicking HERE.) Sure…CON*tourage IS about the parties, the costumes and the atmosphere…but most of all, CON*tourage is about the PEOPLE. Thanks so much to everyone who has supported us over these past 4 years and we look forward to partying it up with many of you at PlayOn Con (Birmingham, July 26-29) and then at Dragon*Con 2012 (Atlanta, Aug. 30-Sept. 3). The first deadline has passed for entering the new monthly CON*tourage PHOTO CON*TEST. Overall, we had a great response for it being our first month seeking submissions. We’ll be awarding a PAIR of CON*tourage VIP PARTY PASSES to our Dragon*Con 2012 parties (21+) to the “Best Photo” (picked by some members of the CON*tourage CRUE) but we’ll also be giving away a VIP PARTY PASS to the most popular…or “Liked” photo on Facebook.

HERE’S HOW TO VOTE:

1.) Become a Fan of the CON*tourage Facebook Fan Page (if you aren’t already) by clicking the Facebook “Like ” Button, found HERE.
2.) Then click HERE to see all of the entries (15 photos total).
3.) Next click “Like” under the photo(s) you like best!

4.) Deadline to “Like” (Vote) for a photo is May 11th (11:59 p.m., EDT)

PRIZE: The photo with the most “Likes” will get a VIP PARTY PASS (21+) to the CON*tourage events at Dragon*Con 2012.

CONtourage announces new MONTHLY PHOTO CONtest!

CON*tourage is super excited to announce a new fun way our fans can get involved monthly…visually….creatively…and win prizes along the way!

This monthly contest is a no-brainer and doesn’t really take much planning…if any at all. You don’t have to be a professional photographer by any means. You don’t have to own or have access to a expensive-as-all-get-out camera with lots of settings. Hell, this might be the first photo you’ve ever submitted to a contest! If you have access to a cell phone camera or a simple point-and-shoot camera then you are good to go. And yes….Instagram photos are do-able too!

The ONE requirement that you will need to include in your photo is the word CON*tourage….that’s it! You can do that several ways:
1.) If you have a CON*tourage t-shirt — wear it in the photo.
2.) Print out the CON*tourage logo HERE (.pdf file) and show it in the photo in some way.
3.) Write the word CON*tourage on yourself (or an object) and have it appear in the photo.

What does the photo need to be of or show? ANYTHING! Be creative…take chances….anything goes! Going out clubbing with your friends? Planning on hanging with a celebrity? Scaling Mt. Everest? Traveling to a foreign country? Found a funny/interesting setting for a photo? Feeling nerdy, sexy or a maybe little naughty? In the middle of no where, all alone and the sights are killer? Bachelor Party in Vegas? Really…ANYTHING GOES as long as the word CON*tourage is in the photo.

Sure…this is a damn easy and fun contest but there are GUIDELINES / DEADLINES so read on!
• DEADLINE for submitting a photo is the last day of each month (11:59 p.m.).
• EMAIL the photo (.jpg preferred) to: contourage@gmail.com
• In the EMAIL SUBJECT please put “Photo Contest Entry”
• In the email put your FIRST NAME and LOCATION and a short description/write-up about the photo. If there are several people in the photo, feel free to include their names also. Say as much or as little as you want.
• Each photo can only be submitted ONE TIME so if you don’t win one month, try something different the next month.
• You CAN submit more than one entry per month BUT photos must be different. (i.e. Don’t submit the same photo from just different camera angles. Who knows…one night out of the town might get you numerous photos as the evening develops!) Quality over quantity, friends!
• The word/logo CON*tourage must be “in” the original photo and not added afterwards with a photo editing program (i.e. via Photoshop)
• NOTE: CON*tourage reserves the right to post, edit, and/or reproduce any photos submitted for contest. Photos submitted may possibly be featured during future CON*tourage parties/events.

MONTLY PRIZES:
Leading up to Dragon*Con 2012, monthly winners will receive a PAIR of CON*tourage VIP PARTY PASSES (21+) to our Dragon*Con 2012 events (FYI, we SOLD OUT well over a month before Dragon*Con 2011 so these VIP Passes will be a hot item). If you are one of the lucky monthy winners but don’t plan on attending Dragon*Con 2012 let us know and you can:
A.) Transfer your VIP Passes to someone else (21+)
B.) We’ll give you another kick-ass prize instead.

After Dragon*Con passes, we’ll change up the montly prizes. Photo Winners will also have bragging rights with photol be posted online for future viewing purposes.

INFESTATION: Halfway to Dragon Con to hit Atlanta on 3-31-12

WARNING: An INFESTATION will happen in Atlanta on March 31st, 2012! An infestation of Superheroes, of Stormtroopers & Jedi, of Monsters and Pirates. An INFESTATION of Kilt-Wearing Men and Scantily Clad Women. An infestation of Leather and Lace. An infestation of ALL types of COSTUMES…and most threatening of them all, an INFESTATION of ZOMBIES!

‘The Shelter’ (voted BEST NEW CLUB by Atlanta’sCreative Loafing readers) will be the setting for this fun & unique event, hosted by CON*tourage (and produced by RockEgos) on March 31st, 2012 from 9 pm–3 am

Already lined up for the evening:
• DJ/VJ Anthony, Atlanta’s premiere video DJ, and DJ Ghost, will keep ‘The Shelter’ moving until the early morning hours. Anthony, who played Dragon*Con in 1992, 2004, 2009 and 2010, adds a video element to the dance club experience ~ mixing and beat matching the actual music videos to create a fluid and energetic night that pleases multiple senses.
• Makeup Artists will be ready to help turn willing partiers into zombies.
• Billy Tackett, known as the Zombification Specialist™ and the Father of the Zombie Mash-Up, will have his art featured and will also be the evening’s Guest of Honor Artist.
• Photographers will be set up around the venue to snap photos of partiers as the INFESTATION unfolds.
• A PANCAKE CHOWDOWN (from 9 p.m.–11 p.m.).
